How effective is Monica's storytelling?

Monica's storytelling had me hooked from the very beginning. So far I have read the first four chapters and they were filled with many interesting anecdotes about her father, mother, siblings, and her independent mindset. Monica is a great storyteller, and I am enjoying reading this book.

I thought Monica's storytelling was engaging. Her anecdotes from childhood are enjoyable to read as well as interesting. She has a lot of stories to tell from her life and her enthusiasm to tell her stories is infectious. Her strong personality really shines through in her writing in a way that creates a unique voice. I think her storytelling could be supported even further through telling the story in a more linear manner. Swaida's novel does not remain in chronological order, which can make the narrative rather confusing in some places. I think the author's storytelling could be even more effective if it was compiled in chronological order, or at least an order with a clearer purpose.

While I did like the emotional details within the story, I do think that there were some parts of the book that could've added more details. The beginning of the book reminded me of a monologue, although as the book progressed, more details and emotional wording was used. I wish that the author used more emotional and detailed wording throughout the whole book. I'd like to especially read more about the author's childhood, as mentioned towards the beginning chapters. But overall, the author's storytelling was able to paint a good picture and intriguing story.

Monica's storytelling is engaging, fast-paced and gets you hooked. However, for some parts of the book, I felt like details were missing; and sometimes crucial details such as the place and time the event is happening. At the end of the book I still had so many unanswered questions.

Monica Omorodion Swaida did a great job crafting a relatable and engaging story in her book "They Love You Until You Start Thinking for Yourself." The anecdotes and the in-depth storytelling skills are some of the things that made my reading really memorable.

Monica knows how to tell a story. I found myself very much invested in the characters from the get-go. I was hooked from the very first chapter. I only read the sample, but I am planning to read the book once I'm done with my current read.

I am quite excited to see how her story unfolds.
