Apart from being a memoir, a reader will definitely be encouraged by reading this book. The first positive thing is that America is a land of opportunities and it gives one a chance to discover himself or herself. One could also learn that he or she could always start again, even amid tribulations.

Monica's storytelling was authentic and because of this, can be a great source of inspiration to young people to earn success the old fashioned way; by working hard for it and making sacrifices.

I think it does, because it gives people a kind of guideline about what to expect from others. The author's life experience is something readers can take to heart that will stick with them for a long time.
