Assumed identity, a corrupt pharmaceutical employee, and comic relief detectives are a little cliche, but the addition of the arboretum added a new twist. I think there could have been a stronger emphasis on the actual research project and the need to help women who struggle with obesity.

This is a murder mystery of Dr. Norma Dunn. Dr. Dunn was conducting a blind study of obese women. A lady detective tries to solve the mystery behind Dunn's death outside her office door. I am intrigued by the role and character of a female detective in the action thriller. The two female surgeons' personalities draw my attention in the story.

I do find the premise of this story intriguing because it tackles many societal/cultural issues in addition to being a murder mystery. I like the fact that the research study Jeannie was sent to help with was centered around the obesity epidemic. I also like the way the story brings people from different backgrounds together. The plot showcases the struggles and prejudices that each of them has.

The premise was intriguing as it tackles many different issues in society. It highlights the need for health care and how it can help people but also how greed and selfishness can corrupt and harm those trying to do good and help people. It also shows how quickly one thing can spiral out of the control. It shows how and 'outsider' might be considered and showed how the characters learned to accept. I love the mystery and danger in the novel keeping me on the edge of my seat and the inclusion of the poison gardens was fascinating.

Just reading the premise of the book was enough to make me want to pick up the literature for a binge reading session. Think murder mystery blended with scientific research within a close-knit community. Jeannie has been given an assignment to investigate who is sabotaging the research project; little does she know that she is about to be thrust into a complex web of mystery and murder. The premise was definitely intriguing and served to drum up interest in the book.

Honestly, the premise confused me a little. I was unsure why a company would send out a researcher to do the job of a detective? If someone is sabotaging the drug that would be handled by law enforcement. This sounds to me like a cookie cutter mystery, without a real detective but a healthcare researcher. It has some intrigue, but it sounds like after reading the first few chapters you could probably figure out who done it.

The premise was intriguing because it involved the murder of a high-profile health authority figure in a small city who happens to be the head of the research group who thinks her work is being sabotaged and the arrival of Dr. Jeannie Johal, a trained epidemiologist who was about to assist her. Near the same area, there was also a murder of a inmate at the Pitt County Detention Center. So from the get-go there was a confusing situation going on that needs to be resolved.
