The protagonists had to deal with their past and their problems in various ways. There's a lot of introspection as they sort of change their normal perspective and look at themselves in a different way. Each character creates their own experience and has their own reactions to it, which can include positive and negative reactions. They want to be happy, but is a virtual trip enough to find the key to happiness? It makes them - and us readers - think for sure!

Participating in simulations helps us face the major problems in our lives, such as marriage issues and addiction. The scenario of having a simulation that can take us anywhere is not improbable. Finding closure and coming to terms with the past. The characters did a lot of introspection and definitely learned some things about themselves. Their experiences helped them figure out who they are and what they wanted.
