Insofar as the word 'should' even has meaning, then we must say that the past is exactly as it should be, everything that happened should have happened, and everything that should happen will happen

This was my least favorite part of the book. However, I know that the YA audience enjoys the mystical genre, and if it takes that to get the message of integrity and humanity across to them, I can accept it.

I have to say that initially I was puzzled by this element. However, this is cat fantasy, so it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story.

Honestly, I wasn't a fan of it. When Bushytail first encountered the Stone, it didn't feel connected to the overall plot, but jutting out like a sore thumb as a means to an end. He needed strength to defeat Brokenear and the Stone gave it, which felt like a cop-out to me. I wished he had gotten the strength through visions of Watcher or something like that. Watcher then could have been his spirit guide, showing him where to hunt like the Stone did in the second encounter.
