Hi, Obiageli. Yes empathy, patience, and never giving up were qualities that Lena had. Thank you for sharing you feedback. :tiphat:

Lena’s empathy and wisdom in norturing Kalayla’s mature behavior is very instrumental. Lena was all the time around them, helping them in any way she could. Maureen was struggling herself but Lena make herself not to struggle so much herself. I really liked the very mature bahavior of Kalayla! Kalayla was so mature as a person in the book, as one of the characters.

Hi, Maria. I agree. Lena made it her mission to be available for Kalayla, and Kalayla was looking for someone to listen. They were perfect for each other. :tiphat:

Lena’s empathy was instrumental to Kalayla, I think this is because of her experience in raising her boys which made her to be able to handle Kalayla and even made a great impact in her life. This helped Kalayla to avoid the street lifestyle and be more closer to Lena.

I believe Lena's empathy was instrumental to Kalayla, because she made herself available to guide her through the right path, not by utter force or being completely strict. She guided with kindness, efforts, and empathy, which helped Kalayla to understand. Lena being a mother herself, her role in Kalayla's life is beneficial.
