This book was amazing, in it's quiet way it just captured the mood and feelings so well. I remember being in awe of the way author could convey the atmosphere with words like he was painting a masterpiece.

As with many stories that explore a region`s history through the lens of a person rummaging around, digging up past local stories on the chance they may have significance to larger, more general themes, The Shadow of the Wind focuses on the Cemetery of Forgotten Books, (as well as book selling itself, not being able to find books one wishes to read etc.) as the convention through which to go `down the rabbit hole`of what might have been / could have been / maybe even partially was at some point. Therefore, I enjoyed the book`s fresh direction even as it tried to validate its own conclusion by suggesting that the next generation was about to undergo a very similar experience.

I read this book 4 years ago. I remember being held captive in its world long after I'd finished reading. One of my most favourites. Made me a big fan of the author.

I loved the title of the book more than anything else. Roaming the street of Spain along with reading the book sounds enticing. I have not read the book yet, but from all the reviews it seems that I would enjoy reading it.

I read it last August 25, 2020.
I can say the story stayed with me up to this day. It is one of my top reads in 2020. Until now, I can't stop talking about it.
I love the heartbreaking beginning, the hilarious middle part, and the thrilling ending. It has all the elements I want in a book. I knew I would love it, and the first sentence proved me right.
Definitely 4 out of 4 stars for me!

I would highly recommend this book! It was fantastic. I could not put it down. I wanted to know what was going to happen and what the next twist was. I have to agree it is a love story about Julian and Penelope but also about the love of reading a book that captures you. I felt like the author was trying to tell me not to give up on holding an actual book in my hand versus changing over to television or a e-reader.
