I loved the cover of this book; it certainly captured my interest. And although the review is highly complementary, this doesn't seem like the kind of story that I find all that captivating. Nevertheless, congrats to the author on BOTD!

Thin Places by Diane Owens Ptrettyman is a journey of self discovery as part of a mystery. Add in Irish folklore and religious undertones to really make this an excellent book. The story begins in a Texas prison with Finn Tully moping the corridorss of death row. Calvery is on death row and he befriends Tully and tells him about his family including his daughteer Chloe, his treasures and the thin places. The day after Calvery's execution Tully received a box of Calvery's possessions. Just before Tullys release he received a bill of divorce and a letter from his mother informing him she is dying from cancer. Tully promised Calvery that he would find his daughter and let her know that her know her father's dying wish, that her father was innocent.

Chloe runs a charter fishing business on the boat she inherited from her father, that is loosing money and she is approached by a man named Duke suggesting she enter into a smuggling scheme with him. When Tully finds Chloe he learns about the smuggling scheme and is determined to save Chloe and make sure she understands that her father was innocent.

This is an exciting book that I plan to read. Interesting characters and a great plot. Very good review.

I think this is an awesome book on decisions and consequences. While this may not be a central theme, I feel that it still does well to highlight how tough decisions can be to make at times and the consequences thereafter. I'd love to read this. Thanks for your clear review

I was able to glean most of the book's plot from your summary, which was quite extensive. I liked that Tully took time out of his evidently busy life to fulfil a dying man's last request. There's not really much else I can say, other than, from your last paragraph, it seems as though the climax is boring, which I don't really enjoy in a novel.

A great review with an equally controversial response to this review. My curiosity is peeked and the fact that this book may be read in a sitting or two makes it even more appealing. Thanks for the thorough review, the contradictory response and to the author for allowing us into his innermost fantasy. I'll definitely complete my reading of this one.

Based on the review, this mystery-romance story seems deeply thought-provoking concerning incarceration, promises, and turmoil. Great review!

Lovely detailed review. Tully and his mother's journey to fulfil Calvery's wish to find his daughter, Chloe, and prove his innocence is touching. A quest for redemption is worthy of a read.

Reading this review made me so emotional. There is nothing as sad as a person knowing his death day. Nice review.

Wow, this plot sounds very interesting. Treasure hunts, an executed man, a mystery! I may have to give this one a try.
