It looks like an intriguing book with self reflection, mystery, and some romance. I think I will give the book a try when I get the time.

What a blend. So many themes and plot within a story. I hope its woven prettily so it won't lose its element. Also the complicated emotions and relationships of life seems to have a place in it too. How an inmates life is changes and those surrounding them.

The plot of Thin Places is a little convoluted, but it becomes interesting as you get to know the people. The narrative begins at a prison in Texas. As Finn Tully cleans the death row hallways, he befriends Calvery, a prisoner who describes himself as a liar and heroin addict. Tully utilizes his connections to get sugar for Calvery, who offers him some of the wine he brews with it in return. In these conversations, Calvery tells Tully a lot of things, like about his treasure, thin areas, and his daughter Chloe. The fact that Calvery's murder is scheduled for the next day shocks Tully. Despite his circumstances, Calvery exudes calmness and reminds Tully that he pledged to track for Chloe and inform her that her father was innocent and she was given a box containing Calvery's possessions the day following his execution. He finds some books, calendars, a poem, and a pet turtle named Sport. Everything appeared normal, despite the death of a fine man and his companion. Tully was eager to return home after his term was about to expire. Regretfully, he got two letters: one was a divorce decree, and the other was from his mother informing him that she had cancer and would not be living for long. After being freed, he visits his mother first and then, despite her objections, his now ex-wife and daughter, Lacey. All he discovers upon arriving is a new man in his wife's life and a young child who doesn't
understand who he is. After losing all that mattered to him, he encourages his mother to travel to Washington with him to locate Chloe and carry off his commitment to Calvery. Chloe runs a charter fishing business on the Perpetuity, A rather regular customer of hers introduces her to.

The book's title, "Thin Places", piqued my interest. I wanted to know what or where these were. The first chapter was poignant. Thanks for the insightful review. The story seems like a worthwhile read.

Sounds like mixed reviews on this book, which makes me want to read it even more! I like the premise of "good son" and "good friend" gets the girl. I will see if this is the case. :D

I’m curious to know how the relationship of Tully and Chloe will pan out after she discovers his connection to her father and how she will make choices regarding her predicaments.

Personal growth and seeking redemption are topics I feel very attracted to, and this book offers just that. Will Chloe learn the truth about her father's death?

After reading this review I feel like I do not even need to read the book to know what happens throughout it. It's an excellent summary, and thanks to the the great detail, I have come to the conclusion I would not enjoy this type of story.

This quick-paced mystery novel didn't disappoint, despite some predictable turns. The Celtic folklore inspiration behind the title intrigued me, and the author wove in mythological threads beautifully. Congrats on BOTD!
