Ender's Game

I had to read this for one of my English courses. I'm not 100% sure if it was the entire book or just an excerpt because I only remember it being about 25 pages long. But regardless if it was the whole book or not, the part that I did read I enjoyed very much.

Alright well I absolutely cannot get over Orson Scott Card. I've adored every one of his books that I've read so far (and that includes this series, the Shadow series, a few of his others written in the same world, and his Pathfinder series), and most of these books WERE MY CHILDHOOD. The Ender's Game movie was disappointing to me, but I hope everyone else enjoys the books as much as I did.

If you look at my bookshelf you might see a correlation between it and ebder's game... I LOVE ender's game and I liked the movie but my favorite part in the book is the Locke and Demosthenes. I have looked into it and man... they are smart (orson scott card) I really LOVE this book.

This is one of those books that was recommended to me but I thought I would not enjoy. Only to find out that I loved it! the movie was not disappointing either. This book should be on every young readers list. You never see the end coming!

I wanted to be Julian Delphiki so bad.

Bean's way of analyzing things colored my thinking for years.

And yes, I love Orson Scott Card. His writing manages to be philosophical without being boring, which is something I've seen few authors ever manage.

It's funny. I have this book in one of my book shelves but haven't taken the time to read it yet. I've seen the movie, and I actually quit liked it, so I picked up the book. I am planning on reading it when I get the chance.

I tried reading the book, couldn't really seem to get into it (which happens to me occasionally). But then I saw the movie and couldn't stop calling it "Harry Potter in Space." Not the fairest comparison, especially since Ender's Game preceded Rowling's classic series, but maybe I should give the book another try. I've been told about what happens further down the line in the series and my interest was certainly piqued.

The book that made me start reading science fiction. The world that Orson Scott vividly created did not seem so far-fetched even back then. I agree that it is a good and promising start for a series. I have to say though, I started losing interest in any of his writings when I learned about his political views/opinions.

I know I should keep a separation between the author himself and his works - but it is not that easy to do, at least for me.

Did anyone notice how Orson Scott Card predicted the internet?

Seriously, the "nets" that Peter and Valentine use to obscure their identities as Locke and Demosthenes was written about before anything of the sort existed. I think ARPANET was up by then, but still.

I had read Ender's Game and loved how thought-provoking it was. The distorted childhood that Ender lived in certainly haunted me, and his emotional responses definitely get me welled up. Some of my friends who had read Ender's Game had complained that he cried too much, but I never really saw it that way as a negative viewpoint. You have to remember, he was pretty young then, unlike the film where he had been changed to a teenager. I have to say I liked the ending of the book but haven't read the other books in the series. I might have to, though.

Did anybody see the movie yet? If so, please let me know what you thought about it!

haven't read the book yet. but watched the movie. it was quite good eventho kinda delusional? i don't know. on scale 1-10, it's 8.

After reading the comments here it seems that I should definitely add this to my to-read list.

I do enjoy books that philosophical questions and get you thinking. It seems to happen less often now when I'm reading books which is a shame. It's good to get kids reading these early
