Leaf by Niggle and The Great Divorce are two of my favourite short stories. Definitely worth reading, particularly if you appreciate the religious influence in their writings.

J.R.R. Tolkien is best known for writing "The Lord of the Rings," a fantasy series set in a magical world. He created rich and detailed fantasy worlds, and his writing is known for its depth and complexity.
C.S. Lewis, on the other hand, is famous for writing "The Chronicles of Narnia," another series of fantasy books. His stories are more straightforward and easier to read, often with a Christian message.
Depends on your personal taste. If you like complex and detailed fantasy worlds, you might prefer Tolkien. If you prefer simpler, allegorical tales with Christian themes, you might like C.S. Lewis. It's all about what kind of stories you enjoy!

Your opinion closely mirrors my own. If people aren't fans of reading LOTR, I always recommend to at least read The Hobbit.Adéla Kapicová wrote: ↑02 Jul 2024, 11:53 I also love both. When I was little, The Chronicles of Narnia were my favourite; I remember devouring book after book, being unable to stop. Later I really enjoyed Hobbit, specially as a book for literary analysis. I also generally adore LOTR, but to be honest, the movies are my favourite, since the books were too descriptive and lengthy. I love Tolkien for being the father of the idea and the whole cult that came from that.

I love how accessible The Chronicles of Narnia is; most of all, I love how they're both so timeless. It amazes me how each generation continues to love these two authors (for good reason-imho).

That's so true, @João Ramos. I'd agree that it seems unfair to choose between the two.João Ramos wrote: ↑23 Jan 2024, 17:06 That's a difficult question to answer. At different stages of my life, I havé changed my opinion. It would be unfair to any of them to choose just one.

As a geologist and christian, I also particularly enjoy books on science and faith.
