I agree. I lost interest in her books several years ago. She used to be one of my favorite writers but when her style changed I found her books to be boring.Carrie R wrote:This response doesn't really go with the lead comment in this thread, but upon seeing Patricia Cornwell in the subject line, I thought I'd add to it. I used to love her books. I've always been a fan of forensic mysteries, and I gobbled her novels up as soon as they were released. But I haven't even read the last one or two because the few before them really disappointed me. I'm not sure what happened, but based on Amazon reviews, I'm not the only one who's noticed a change in her books. The characters frustrate me; the jargon is too technical. The last one I got through was Port Mortuary, and it was a struggle just to finish it. It's too bad, because I was once a huge fan or hers. Anyone else notice this?

Yes, it's almost like technical details were added to avoid having to develop plot. And the characters are less likable, too, I think.plantladyme wrote:

Likewise. I loved her early books, but the new ones disappointed me and I didn't bother reading any of her new books. A pity since she writes well.plantladyme wrote:I agree.
