Has anyone read her books? What did you thing of them? Did you like her as an author? I am getting ready to read Peony in Love and wondered if it was worth the read.

Peony In Love is a good read but I really loved Snow Flower & The Secret Fan. She is a superb writer who really does a great job detailing the lives and trials of women in China. Enjoy.

Read Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. I loved that. It was made into a movie.

I just finished reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and loved it. I didn't know that it was made into a movie though. I'll have to check that out. Have you seen the movie? If so, was it true to the book? So many times I watch movies based of books and the movie veers so far away from the book that it drives me crazy lol

Haven't seen the movie. I was told it already came out, so I got the feeling it was a film festival movie with a very limited release. Would like to see it.

Know what you mean by the movie veering away from the books. I really TRY to read the book first.

I have read Shanghai Girls and Dreams of Joy by Lisa See and have enjoyed them both! Her characters are always engaging and the reader quickly gets caught up in the storyline. Snowflower and the Secret fan was probably her best work but I think you'll enjoy all of her books.

Just saw that Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is on On Demand. Unfortunately, it only got 1 star out of 4(not that I follow the critics too closely). I will watch it anyway.

I have just finished the first part of Shanghai Girls and I simply cannot put the novel down. It's a really captivating read where the plot is magnificent but the true strength of the novel lies in its strong characterization and how the characters handle said plot elements.
