Oh yes! James Clavell is great. I started with the TV mini-series Shogun. After that, I had to go back and read the book, and then read the rest of his stuff. I appreciate how gritty a lot of it is.

James Clavell is such a good writer! I admire his style of writing. Shogun, his best-selling novel published in 1975 had 1152 pages, a very thick book in my opinion, but I never got bored reading the whole, entire story about John Blackthorne in 17th-century Japan. He used the Japanese language in the narration which made it authentic. He also wrote Tai-pan, which did not make a big splash in the literary world as Shogun.
