I don't believe that gender has anything at all to do with the talent or lack of talent in an author. I have read excellent books by both... and I have read atrociously bad books by both males and females.

Men may not be able to write with as great a level of sensitivity as women but on the other hand they can open all their own jars. (Real answer: In my opinion ... no difference.)

Male writters are usually cowboys, like Tex. But they can also be comedians, like his son, John.
Female writters are legal scholars. They've been around a long time, even before St. Fran became
an Archangel. Maybe you've heard of writter of habeus corpus, writter of certioari, writter of
mandemus? For the most part, they are held in high esteem by the Vatican. Only one writter
has ever been admonished or censured by the Church. That was the writter of mons venus.
Her him line included the Earl of Sandwich, Earl of Shakes, and Earl of Hurl(he had an odd
reaction to tuna fish). mons venus wasn't expelled, but she was given another title which
was more representative of her proclivities: Dame Flagrante Delecto.
Aren't you glad you asked?
You can only be grounded if you're crazy. If you come to me and tell me you should be grounded because you're crazy, I won't ground you.
Why not: Because crazy people don't think they're crazy.

Fran,

Thank you for calling this error to my attention. I complement you on your super-human powers of observation and attention to detail. I, and my fellow posters, have obviously, and totally misunderstood the OP's question. It seems we are considering, in this instance, a WRITTer and not a WRITer.

WRIT = In common law, a writ is a formal written order issued by a body with administrative or judicial jurisdiction; in modern usage, this body is generally a court.

In consideration that most writs relating to divorce are instigated by wives who have had it up to their eyebrows with husbands who lounge on the couch watching football with their friends, shouting horsely when their team scores, spilling beer and chips all over the freshly cleaned carpeting, and the very same husbands who egregiously refuse to engage in fundamental and essential activities such as ballroom dancing classes, house painting and meaningful discussions regarding landscape gardening and cuisine, it is as obvious as the beer and chips on my living room carpeting that women are the greater writters. Of course what I lack in powers of observation I have been blessed with in common sense and have never been married. As a consequence I have thus far escaped the experience of being served a writ

@DATo
Much appreciate your confirmation of the superiority of the female of the species in the writter stakes, it has been a cause of some concern to me over the holiday season. I can now approach 2013 happy in the knowledge that the book has been closed :!: on this major controversy

All I know on the gender thingis that you know the author is a woman or a very feminine man because the clothing is generally described in much greater detail. Any gory or bloody scenes almost always take center stage over the clothes for masculine women or men in their writing lol

celiacloureiro wrote:Personaly, I believe man are better in describing situations, women describing feelings.

It's always complicated to find a women telling about a situation without, simply, refering to the character's feelings, as for men, they describe the situation and take the character back, to an intimate place, where he'll be free to re-think the occurred.

Still, in general:

Who's a better writter?
Men write really good suspense crime thrillers, historical biographies, and books on technical stuff. Their facts are well researched, and they can explain tough situations in a methodical manner.

Women write good romances, self help books and also adventure stories because in these genres, one has to explain the emotions of the characters, some thing that comes naturally to women.

I like the fact that even in the writing field, women are at par with men as long as they choose the genre that they can handle efficiently.

Both are same. Because men and women both are unique in their own way of writing so cant say who is better.

I think it is difficult to judge. Different writers have different personalities! The same with men and women writers!

If an author has initials on the book cover, most readers will try to find out if it's been written by a man or a woman. Why? Because deep down it actually does matter - so whether most people acknowledge it or not, they like romances written by women and thrillers written by men. Just check out any bookstore, website or library shelf and their Top 10 arrangement will show this preference. But the age-old response to the question is "who cares, just keep reading".

Everyone is good if he or she has a gift to write and to depict the feeling s and attitudes rather well.
