General Norman Schwarzkopf, Jr. when he signed my copy of It Doesn't Take a Hero. he was a really down to earth man and was kind to me as i was only a little girl at the time, he posed with my father and me for a photo and shook my hand. Was a once in a life time experience that my father felt was more important than school, i am glad he made that choice because i learned alot that day from veterans who were in line talking about the book as i was reading through it.

I met Jamie Ford, author of "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" when he presented for my honors language arts class in junior high. He was quite an interesting person, intelligent but very quirky and humorous.

All of my university lecturers are published novelists, but probably aren't very famous. Perhaps Fiona Shaw might ring a bell for a few people, but that's about the extent of my literary acquaintance ... unfortunately. I wish I could meet J.K. Rowling.

I wanted to talk for a minute about the authors behind the books. I personally have had the opportunity to meet many authors and would like to share my experience. For one, they are nothing like they are portrayed on TV. Right now if that is what you think, throw those thoughts out of your mind. Second of, all they are normal people and have normal lives, writing is there profession just like some of us might work as mechanics or librarians.
Authors care what you think about their books so give them feedback. Tell them how much you can't wait for the next book or for the movie to come out. (only if you mean it though) They like knowing that their hard work is appreciated. Ask them questions. If you wondered how they came up with the idea to create a certain character, ask. There are a few questions you should avoid: How much money they make? Which is their favorite book? Anything that could be too personal. Just use your judgment, if you don't think it's appropriate, don't ask it. Also if you are a writer yourself, ask them about their writing process, how to get published, things like that. You can also talk to them about their childhood, lifestyle now, and family. The options are limitless!!! I hope this helped those of you who are going to be meeting authors and don't know what to do. Remember: Authors are people just like you and me. :) :D :) :D :) :D

Latest Review: "The Farewell Season" by Ann Herrick

I have! A friend of mine just wrote an amazing book, and is doing very well with the beginnings of her series. I was going to say no initially, that I have only emailed with some authors, but then I remembered about my friend's book series haha. And I feel that totally counts.

My boyfriend set up a meeting with Karen Ann Hopkins (YA author of the Temptation series) at our local Kroger where she worked. I freaked out. I had just finished her first book and was completely in love with it. I did some stalking online and found out she lived in the town next to mine and was super excited that i lived so close. He ended up messaging her on facebook and asking if he could send her my copy to sign, and she said she could meet us at work and she would sign it in person. I swear i turned into a tiny fan girl, it was quite embarrassing. But i loved every second of it.

When I was in Middle School I was chosen to have lunch with Wendy Mass. She was so sweet and I got a book signed by her and it was such a wonderful experience

Does it count if I have met myself? Oh wait, I have met Kate Bennett! Little known author of a single book. She's my friend.

No, but I would love that. It'd be so awesome and yet, no. My dream has not been realized.
