One of the first authors I remember reading everything by was Irish writer Walter Macken - I was probably about 10 or 11 at the time and his books made a huge impression on me.

When I was in Jr. High/High School, I read every book of Mary Higgins Clark's. I was mad about her, but I'm not a great fan of her newer books, so that has faded. I also went on a big Neil Gaiman kick a few years back and have read most everything of his.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, I fell in love with mysteries and intelligence because of his amazing character, Sherlock Holmes.

As a child, I read "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" by C. S. Lewis, then had to read the rest in the Narnia series. I have since read that series multiple times, including reading them aloud to my children. I find more in the stories each time I read them. Because of my early interest in the Narnia books, I have read many of Lewis' books for adults as well. His books have layers - they can be read simply for the story, and then again for the analogies and application to real life and intelligent living.

The only author I have read everything and waiting on book #8 in one of her series is Diana Gabaldon. Check her out! You will too.

There are so many authors I love, but I think the first author I HAD to read in their entirety was Cornelia Read. Unfortunately there's only 4, all centered around the very entertaining Madeleine Dare. I highly recommend!

Not the first but someone I discovered fairly recently is Susan Wilson. She wrote "One Good Dog", a book I picked up by chance at a second hand sale. What attracted me to that was the cover, a man sitting on a bench with the obvious profile of a bull dog next to him. I've just started "The Dog Who Danced" and there's a third called "A Man of His Own" that's next on my list. I know she has more books but I just particularly love the dog theme. I also enjoy how she puts you into the head of all of the characters including the dogs.

Actually, this is only happened to me recently. I read a Crowner John book by Bernard Knight (out of sequence) as it caught my eye. I really loved the descriptive style of his writing and had to read all the others in the series.
