Tamora Pierce. I started reading the Alanna series in 5th grade and started reading all of her books that were set in the Tortall universe. I haven't had time to read her latest book though.

Meg Cabot. I discovered All-American Girl when I was 12 and never hesitated reading another one of her books from that day on.

Dan Brown. His novels were my first transition from young adult fiction to "real" books, so to speak. Though he is by far no literary mastermind, I always thought he brought such interesting mystery to his stories. From the DaVinci Code series to Deception Point or Digital Fortress, I devoured them all.

JK Rowling. I even did an English presentation on her in the sixth grade.

I have probably read everything by several authors, but the first that I read everything by was John Grisham. I absolutely love the legal thriller, and of course he has consistently delivered. Even the books that he has written that were not legal thriller were good reads. I couldn't wait for Christmas this past year because I just knew someone was going to get me his new book "Sycamore Row". Sure enough, it was so good that I couldn't put it down, and I finished it within a week.

Kurt Vonnegut was how I survived middle school. He was the first author I found who made me want to collect every word they'd ever written. I hope, if there turns out to be any kind of afterlife at all, I get to thank him for it... which would be an awfully funny conversation.

I think mine was Louis Sachar, when I was a kid, and also the Goosebump series (though I never finished reading ALL of them...I think R. L. Stine is still coming out with more.) I also loved all the Anastasia books.

Definitely Lisa See. I read Shanghai Girls and had to read all the rest. I can't wait for her next book to come out.

Ronald Dahl! And then Margaret Peterson Haddix followed not long afterwards.
Right now, I'm moving slowly down the works of Agatha Christie. :)
