One of my most favorite series was James Herriot's "All Creatures Great and Small." The trilogy was superbly written and entertaining, and to this day, I continue to watch the British television series, that, for the first three years, contained true happenings in the life of Mr. Herriot, a veterinarian who was hired by an older vet, Siegfried Farnon and his wayward younger brother, Tristan. Their occupations were a great challenge, since, in those days, most of the work tended to the illnesses and various conditions of farm animals. At all hours of the day and night, these men responded to calls from local farmers. Getting clients to pay for services was regularly a struggle. It wasn't until later, after the 1940s, that veterinary surgery evolved more toward the servicing of pets.

The history of the real folks who made up those stories is a story of its own. I highly recommend anything dealing with James Herriot's life.

The In Death series by Nora Roberts is the only series I've stuck with from start to finish! Looking forward to the newer books in this series.

That would be the Foundation Series by Isaac Asimov. Although Jason Tesar's Awakened series is pretty good as well.

My favorite series would also have to be the Dune series followed closely by the I Am Number Four series.

I'd have to say the CHERUB series, by Robert Muchamore, is my favourite series, they are so good and I definitely recommend them, even though they are directed at teenagers!

SERRAted Edge! Love that stuff! Also Ru Emerson's Night Threads series. Actually, a lot of 80's fantasy series -- Time of the Dark, Bedlam's Bard, Susan Dexter's Callandra series. I wish there were still authors writing fantasy of that quality, but these days it all sounds like it was written for a high school creative writing class. I can't remember the last fantasy author I read who actually wrote with a solid, mature , immersive style or created a world that actually felt coherent and lived-in.

Outside the realm of fantasy, Brad Thor's Scot Harvath series.
You can't put a rope around the neck of an idea.

omgoodness i've read the last 5 series in your list and I agree. Well actually, the way I do it, Harry Potter has always been my favorite. I compare everything to that. I feel like 7 books over a 10 year period with an amazing story like that.. well lets just say in my opinion, a series has to be mighty good to best that. So I usually compare everything I read to Harry Potter. There's one series I just read (if you liked all those books up there, you'll prob love this one) called Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. It's was such an amazing series- every single aspect of it- that I was actually considering pushing it the my #1 spot, but even though the story was amazing, it was only 3 books and I just couldn't let it take Harry Potter's spot. I also want to recommend the series Wool by Hugh Howey. There's not much of a love story in this one so that's probably the only difference compared to the books you have above. Aaaaand it can be a slow read if you're not really into futuristic technology and government secrets but its somewhat similar to the Maze Runner and the Hunger Games, but minus the love story. Almost all the books I read have some kind of love story so this was a nice change of pace. I must warn you though, its a mission and a half! there are 5 books in the first part of the series, then 3 more books in the 2nd part of the series, then one last book to tie everything together and close out the story. And it's awesome to know that the author self-published the books because no one wanted to take a chance on him and it turned out to be a big hit. IN fact, if i remember correctly, Fox bought the rights to make it into a movie or TV show so that would be pretty awesome.

take a look at my pinterest board for all my YA, Sci-Fi, dystopian, post-apocalyptic books i've read. I personally gave all of these books 3 stars or higher (mostly 5 stars cause i thought they were all amazing). I'm not allowed to post the actual URL since I'm a new member but if you go to pinterest and add the below ending you will find my list of books

that should keep you busy for a while! :D

I love the Guardians of the Gate series by Michelle Zink, they are just so beautifully written for a YA series. As well I love the Calypso Chronicles by Tyne O'Connell which always make me laugh. Then there is another go to series, The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot that I adore.
However, one of the best series by far is the Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray. I cannot even put into words how much I love it. Her new book The Diviners will probably end up becoming my next favourite series.
