There is too many authors out there that are great so I cannot just say one.
I love Frank Herbert, I think I have read Dune at least 10 times. Gabriel Garcia Marquez is an amazing storyteller. Tolkien, Dumas, Austen, Poe...

That's not to say they're the only ones I'll read, but they are definitely my favorites followed closely by Kim Harrison. Anyone read any of her stuff?

Hey there, I love the Dune series as well, but I must admit(and I am probably the only one) I like the prequel series "Prelude to Dune" and "Legends of Dune" even better. I think that "Legends of Dune" is one of my favourite SF series. I love the whole concept of man fighting the machines, which has been done so many times in SF but then you have the Titans( a mixture of both) added into the mix. I also find Brian Herberts writing just as good as Frank's.lpartoft wrote:Hi I'm new to this!

Me, too...Jane Austen.missmary1979 wrote:I would have to say my favourite author of all time is Jane Austen. Followed by Orwell, Dickens, Jennifer Weiner, Jeffery Deaver, Robert Ludlum, JK Rowling, an Eoin Coffer.
I love all of these authors an many more for different reasons. Each appeal to my various tastes. In regards to Austen, if you've never read Pride and Prejudice, do so. It is insightful, funny, smart, and just very enjoyable.

I have read all his books, and waiting for his newest one is hard... I have read all of certain other authors too, mystery I guess, and I hope someone can give me an opinion, if you have read Greg Iles...could you reccomend another author similar to his writing.....?
Thanks in advance....I can't seem to read any other author that I like as much as his...
James Patterson, Mary Higgens Clark, Iris Johansen, Patricia Cornwell, etc... they are wonderful, but if anyone know any other author as good as Greg Iles, let me know....
Thanks!

I read quite a few different authors but I think the one i like most would have to be David Eddings. he is a true story teller, I read the Belgariad series and after the initial first book i could hardly put them down.
I am a big fantasy fan but for some reason i found lord of the rings hard going, anyone else find this?
