I always follow up on an author if I have enjoyed a book, my latest follow up was with Thomas Savage after reading "The Power of The Dog", I am also waiting for Rose Tremain to write a new novel.

I think it depends how much I loved the book/s I have read of theirs. If it was a 3 or 4 star rating then I would be inclined to buy as many as I could get my hands on, at least until one of their books lets me down. Ive read wonderful first works only to be disappointed by the next book I read by them, then I am more careful in selecting.

I keep a folder tab of favorites on my laptop and I used to check them religiously. I don't spend that kind of time on author web pages anymore. I loved reading about how they got started, tips and advice, book reading orders, what's coming next, etc. I guess I follow amazon the most these days, and goodreads.

I do have a couple of bloggers that I follow in the genres I enjoy most, and I check in 1-2 days a week I guess. I love the recommendations. Here's one of my favorites:

I follow a few very closely. For example, anything John Grisham writes, I read. Others are Augustin Burroughs, Brad Meltzer, and JK Rowling.

The only author I currently follow is David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas, ghostwritten, The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, Black Sawn Green, number9dream , and very soon I will be reading his latest, ... The Bone Clocks).

I follow him from precisely one city block away. He told me if I get any closer he will have me arrested.

As much as I love reading, I don't follow any authors. I might occasionally look one up to see if he/she has released anything new, or when the next book in a series will be available, but that's pretty much it.

I follow numerous authors on Facebook. Additionally, I have most of my favorite authors' websites bookmarked on my computer.

One of the authors I follow closely is Jane Cleland, who I have met by the way. She writes books that she classifies as Contemporary Fiction, which many call Cozies. I do not always have access to her books through my local library or free kindle books, but I enjoy her characters. She used to be an antique dealer and is very knowledgeable about her craft, do this is the subject of her books.
