I love suspense/horror books, but Richard Laymon has been my least favorite so far. I read "Come Out Tonight" and I started another one of his books, but I can't remember which, because I didn't finish it.

I would have to say Kevin J. Anderson and Stephanie Meyer. Kevin J. Anderson because he utterly ruined the Dune series with his writing and Stephanie Meyer because her writing style is atrocious and her depiction of vampires sickening.

Oh no! I looooooove Paul Coelo. :lol: It's so interesting to see how different tastes are! I probably haven't read any of his newer books, though, just a few oldies

Totally agree with both of these! I do like vampires, witches, etc in general, and I totally give authors the leeway to remake them at will (that is-- things like making them sparkle don't bother me at all. Making them one-dementional does bother me. :lol: ), but I just could never deal with Anne Rice. Never interested me. I loved The DaVinci Code, and went on to read Angels and Demons-- thought it was exactly alike. I even read his two others (at the time, he's written one since, but I haven't read it) just to see how formulatic he was... The answer is ridiculously formulatic, IMO!

Stephanie Meyer- ug, not my style.

Stephen King- I'm sure I'd still think he's an incredible writer... but I can't read stuff so scary anymore! I haven't even been able to read the latter 2 Dragon Tattoo books, b/c the first was so violent and scary (though SO good), let alone would I make it through King without nightmares. This is more of a compliment, than a dig. :)

Fantasy author Cecilia Dart-Thornton writes amazing descriptions and imagery but her books have weak plot lines and are incredibly slow moving. It is very hard not to fall asleep while reading her triology.
