the first author that i went and looked for and for the most part have every book is nora roberts. i like the way that she keeps your attention from beginning to end. i find myself reading a whole book at a time because i cant put it down. i have read her works under jd robb and for some reason I just cant get into those as much as the books she writes as nora roberts.

Anyone remember the Sweet Valley High and Sweet Valley Twins series by Francine Pascal? Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield were the characters....I was OBSESSED when I was young. There were about 200 books in the series. I tried my hardest to do any and all extra chores around the house so I could go to the store with my mom to get another book!! I was reading them so quickly that she had to cut me down to 1 a week and so I would go outside and interact with my friends. :-)

The first author I got hooked on was Sherilyn Kenyon. The first book I read by her was one if the books in the Dark-Hunter series. I haven't been able to pick up her lastests books, but I've read the majority of the Dark-Hunter series and the Chronicles of Nick. I haven't indulged myself into her other series yet, but I am slowly collecting the series. Not too long after that, there were a few other authors I absolutely had to read everything they wrote. Some of this authors include Mary Higgins Clark, James Patterson, Sidney Sheldon, and Karen Chance. There is so much more i have to read by these authors, and I still have the majority of my life to do so!

Stephen King, and I'm still working on that one :D the first book/series I read of his was actually the Dark Tower, and I highly recommend for anyone who hasn't taken this journey yet. There's a corner of the internet with those of us who are obsessed with the Tower, but I feel like it doesn't get enough recognition as his life's masterwork, like GRRM A Song of Ice and Fire or Tolkien's LotR. There's a movie coming out of the DT....but I don't know how I feel about it.

There were a couple series in my native language from my early childhood that I was obsessed with and tried to find more of the series and author. However, the first English authors whose books I gobbled up were Lemony Snicket and Rick Riordan. I am still reading books by them and still love them so much!
My weekend is all booked!

I tore through The Cirque Du Freak books in middle school. I ended up in love with Darren Shan the author and Darren Shan the character. My first big book character and author crushes. Haha

The first book or series of books were by VC Andrews. Flower in the Attic, If there be thorns it was great intriguing writing. You would anticipate what the next scene would be or how would you try to help the children stay together and not be separated...

Mary Higgins Clark - my mom read all her books and let me read one and I was hooked! I recently found out that her mom read them all too (and she was NOT a reader). Happy to have that small connection between all of us. And I am always recommending her books to avid readers!

I just HAD to read all of the Hardy Boys. Nancy Drew just didn't do it for me. The John Jakes Kent Family Chronicles was the next series. I read them all during middle school:)

Saying J K Rowling at this point would make people reading go like "uh-huh, yeah, okay" and so I am going to go with another option here and that is the lovely Julia Quinn. Her historical romances made me come alive at a time when I didn't really believe in romances happening in read life anymore. She helped transport me to a world where the best things happen to the most unexpected women and she made me feel like maybe, I may just be that person, in my own present-day world. I would recommend her to all romance lovers, and the setting is all in England which totally adds to its flavour!

Haruki Murakami. I was at an age where I found everything he wrote enthralling.

Dean Koontz. I didn't really get fanatical about reading until I came across one of his books. I was on a mission after the first book of his I discovered. Nearly 25 years later and many authors I've become familiar with, he is still one of my favorites.

Mary Pope Osborne's Magic Treehouse books and Barbara Park's Junie B. Jones books. I read all of both series in about 1st or second grade, but unfortunately I can't remember which I discovered first.

I want to say Rowling's Harry Potter, but I think the first series I actually ever had to finish was Malory Towers by Enid Blyton. My mum read me the first couple of books, and after that I borrowed her copies and read them all the time. I don't remember what it was about them that made me so anxious to finish the series, but I was, and I did, many times. Though I haven't read them for a good 10 years now, but they're still on my bookshelf.
