I love Edgar Allan Poe too! I finished the Complete Tales & Poems earlier this year, and it was pretty darn stellar.

It's always a tough decision. I like MULTIPLE authors because they write different genre's.

Military Fiction: W.E.B. Griffin (Clancy is a close second)
Thriller: Chuck Palahniuk
Non-Fiction: William L. Craig/Hugh Ross

No doubt, Dan Brown.

I have read all of his books (currently reading Inferno). I just can't seem to put his books down.

He researches his topics so well. I always feel like I am learning as I am running through the streets of Rome with Robert Langdon :D

Oh man there are so many! I would have to say Emily Bronte, Beverly Swerling, and Tracy Chevalier, just to name a few.

My favorite author is Patrick Rothfuss. He wrote Name of the Wind and Wise Man's Fear.

John Updike could do it all equally well: novels, short stories, poetry, essays, criticism, reviews.

I love Seanan McGuire right now. Her October Daye series amuses me so very much. I'm also a fan of Nora Roberts (and as JD Robb), Jayne Ann Krentz in all her guises, Gail Carriger, Jim Butcher... I think picking a single favorite is too hard....

My favorite author is Kristin Hannah. She writes romantic and dramatic books. I already read 2 books of her: The winter garden and Angel falls. Her books are very special, because some subjects are about the everyday things of life.

Also the couple Nicci French are one of my favorite authors, because when I start to read a book of them I can't stop. I could literally read a whole day and I hope I'm not the only person who can do that.

I think Kurt Vonnegut, I wrote my senior thesis on him and I find his personality to be that of the quintessential author, witty, bitter, and unfortunately dis-empowered to do anything but write. His body of work includes some of the best novels in the American canon. He also has a great sense of trans-continentalism, a Hoosier planted in Cape Cod and NYC. I think I love his sense of tragic irony the best. So it goes.
