If I could have a beer with any author, I would choose Margaret Atwood. She is my personal favorite author of dystopian novels, a remarkable poet, and has intelligent and agreeable political views. I visualize us having a mighty fine conversation.

That is quite a list. But given the specialties of the names on the list there wouldn't be much beer drinking going on. First there would be a coldblooded, brutal, and probably somewhat supernatural murder and then all the detecting would distract from a relaxed conversational atmosphere.

J.R.R. Tolkien. His world that he created in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the history of Middle-Earth books is so expansive and complex. I would love to pick his brain...and also probably sit and giggle in a girlish fashion at being in the presence of one of my literary heroes.

I think I would definitely be afraid to get that group drunk.

I would love to have a beer with Hemingway. I bet he could tell a few stories.

If I could bring back Hemingway we would have a gin and tonic at Camps Bay in South Africa and he could tell me all about his wild life, crazy romances, and exotic adventures.

Scott westerfeld he actually responded to several questions I had about his work for a college lit paper I wrote for him over Facebook and he is funny in such a weird way that I'd love to hang out with him.
Christopher Moore, his book are like having a drink with him, there crazy, silly, you might pee yourself but you will remember the night.

That is cool. I have found that most authors love to hear from their readers and will respond. I often call or write to college professors that author books to get clarification or more information.

Given a choice, I would pick Jenny Lawson. She is hysterically funny, brutally honest about her life as she deals with mental illness, and exudes generosity and compassion. My alternate choice would be Kevin Hearne, I have eagerly followed his Iron Druid Chronicles. Hey, anyone who admits to "frolicking unreservedly with dogs" (his words) and reading comic books is all right in my opinion!

I do not drink beer but I would love to go to lunch with Danielle Steele. I have enjoyed all the books I have read written by her.

Hugh Howey. A beer on his yacht...where he seldom wears a shirt. But we'd talk about his books and self-publishing and e-books vs. paperbacks and such topics, of course, because I'm old enough to be his mother.

I'm old, but I'm not dead.

Samuel Clemmons for sure. All his books (Not just Sawyer and Huck) have had a huge impact on my life and how I perceive it.

Excellent choice. I hadn't even thought of him. That would definitely be a good time!
