Who's Your Favorite Author?

Jean Auel with The Earths Children's Series, I came across these when I was sixteen and have read them countless times, I have shared them with all my friends and as yet I have not come across another author who has written a series that I have enjoyed so much much!

My favourite author is -currently- Adam Nevill. He is my favourite author because he is of the horror genre and his style of writing is very realistic yet very sophisticated. I think he and I have the same issue. ..But I kind of like that issue. "Never use a long word where a short one will do" [George Orwell] - His stories deal with larger concepts and cleverly absorb more then one point of view so that an audience can emphasize more with a chosen character. Modern sophistication.

Right now it would be kind of a toss up between Dean Koontz and Stephen King. They are both such brilliant writers. I have been leaning more towards fantasy recently though and George R. R. Martin is definitely in the running.

My all-time favorite author is P.G.Wodehouse. I think he is highly underrated as a serious writer; very few people can match his clever use of words. Though his subject matters appear trivial, his books are my antidepressants.
In my younger days I was highly influenced by William Saroyan. His stories of people trying to be happy even under desperate circumstances made a deep impression on me.
Another author who had a lasting impression on me was Salinger, particularly, his book "Raise high the roof beam, carpenters and Seymour.

I struggle to pick just one author. My love for reading started with a book by Wilson Rawls and took off from there. I had a passion for Stephen King in my teens, and read every book he wrote up until the Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. I really like the way Richard Laymon writes horror, and I love the sassiness of Anita Blake. I remember walking across Mars with C.S. Lewis, and crying over Christian Gray's childhood. But if I had to pick just one author.. I would have to pick Laurell K. Hamilton.. I have read her two series through at least three times. I find that after a while of reading something else, I miss Jean Claude and Edward, and Darkness and Frost... like, I miss them like they are real people..

My favorite Author is Chloe Neil. I love her because she writes books that keep you engaged till the end. While there are plenty of books like this, the part that makes her special to me is the fact that she can do it with Supernatural books. Supernatural books can be very predictable but Chloe Neil's books are not that predictable in the sense of twist and turns that she takes you on in her books.

I would say I have two as of right now until i come upon perhaps an author where I have read multiple books of theirs.

Since I was younger I have read John Grisham books. I love his writing. He keeps me wanting to read and read until I reach the end. I love reading about the law and crooked people and what they do to try to get away with things.

Another author I love is Alexandre Dumas. I have read a couple of his books and I absolutely love them. I love the words used. I can actually hear the accents in my head when speaking like that of long ago. I love reading about how love was and used to be. I love reading about such determination by the characters as well.

My favorite has changed and evolved over the years but currently I am completely in love with Michelle Moran. She draws you completely into these historical moments in the most interesting ways. You become apart of an ancient world and feel and understand every moment. In college I could not get enough Voltaire. I had never known a satire before and after reading Candide I was completely enamored by the concept. To mock an entire culture by simply being honest and writing a story. It is a dream!

I don't know that i could ever have just one favourite author, but my steady favourites for a few years now have been JR Tolkien, Anne Bishop, and Tamora Pierce.

I am an avid romance reader and love Kristan Higgins. I love her writing because it is about normal people who are falling in love.

For me, it all depends on what mood I'm in. If I'm in the mood for a classic, you can't do wrong with Dickens. But right now I just can't seem to put down any book by James Rollins.

Even though its only based on two books, I have to go with Patrick Rothfuss. Hemingway is a close second.
