I don't wanna sound like someone who has never set foot in a book store or library but who is Stephan King? I know he's a author but can you guys tell me what's so appealing about his writing style and genres? I'm 12, go easy on me.

Hey there TKA, I think the best person to answer your question will be his biggest fan on this forum SKM. I am sure he will reply to your question as soon as he sees it.

King is a hugely successful author, predominatedly of horror but also fantasy and fiction. He started writing in the 60s and continues to this day, some of his most famous books include The Stand, The Shining, Carrie, IT, Needful Things, The Dark Tower series and 11.22.63. I personally love his books for his unique ability to creep inside the readers greatest fears and throw back the curtain that you so bravely faced, only to discover that your most intimate and primal fears are not only true, but usually about a hundred times more horrifying than you imagined. There are too many great moments to mention but special mention goes to the dead woman in the bath in The Shining, the possessed crow tapping the window in The Stand, the lone alien visitor in Geralds Game and the finale of 11.22.63, all moments which froze my blood and took my breath away, some moments even made me close the book. King can do this in a way that is effortless and make the reader genuinely scared and its the main reason im such an enormous fan.

12 is a tad young to start on his books but I would advise Carrie as a first book if you do want to start with him.

For a 12 year old, I'd probably recommend The Eyes of the Dragon.

That's just me though

Steven King writes big thick books, but have no fear, they are never boring.

I'm not too sure but I do know who Stephen King is.
He is an acclaimed horror writer.

Ahahaha! Wow, StephenKingman. You sounded really cool back there. I used to be a huge Stephen King fan and then all the cursing got to me. I developed a sort of love and hate thing with him. Reading what you wrote made me want to pick up another Stephen King book. (God, this almost feels like getting back together)

Don't listen to him: I was like 12 when I started on Stephen King (my mom gave me The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon) and I turned out alright! Ish.
But yes, Stephen King is God. That much is true.

I was 12 when I read my first King book... It was Bag of Bones, and I remember I wasn't as scared as I expected. I am certainly not an expert in his books, but I have read a few and plan to read more. The Shining was excellent!

Stephen King is a legend in the horror genre. Hes my hero, my first book of his was Pet Cemetary and though I never read them in order, I've read nearly every book that hes published. The man wrote Dream Catcher (Aliens), Cujo (psycho rapid dog), IT (killer clown), and so many other terror filled novels. The man is a GENIUS!

Also, Stephan King is a huge Boston Red Sox fan. My favorite Stephan King book is Salem's Lot.

Stephen King is so good! I have a friend who doesn't enjoy reading that well (a sin if I've ever heard of one ) but reads every release of his just because there is sure to be excitement in every release! My favorite book of his is probably Carrie even though I know from a technical standpoint it isn't his greatest accomplishment.
