I think she is a true crime writer. I think I read a book of hers on a serial killer a long time ago and enjoyed it.

I used to read her all the time. She is my favorite true crime writer and true crime had been my favorite genre for a while. Then I got more interested in fiction. You are reminding me I need to get caught up in Ann Rule's latest books!

It's a series of naval books based just before to after the Napoleonic wars, intrigue, ambition of Aubrey and an all round good naval rad. Not usually my sort of thing, but I fell into it prety quickly because of the writing style and the 3d characters. It's written by a very knowledgeable author who will educate you on ye olde sailing ships, the hardship of it, and then some heroic cavalier, well written adventure. But descriptive!

I enjoyed her book on the green river killer. It was sympathetic to the victims and was not full of the pulp sensationalism that usually plagues the genre.

Ann Rule by far is my favorite true crime author. She has written numerous books on this topic expertly & consiesely after years of experience in a field that exposed her to the dark side of life. Her writing expresses a clear picture of sociopathy/psychosis which often hides in a depraved mind. Through interviewing numerous people who knew the killer we can follow their early lives & actions which paint a blueprint for the evil they became. Many times, she would attend the trials of the killer & disect their words, actions & general interactions. She also visited federal peniteneries to interview these monsters. She brings the victim(s) to life in a way that makes one feel as if the victim is a person we, the reader, knows well. Thus, when you are finish reading the book, you feel as if she exhausted all questions you had about the individuals she wrote about. Her method of writing always make a great book come to life! I was saddened to learn of her passing & realize I have read all her works!
