Overtime, I develop my characters and they do start feeling real, in a sense. I give them a personality, flaws, a style, and they begin to seem like a real person.

Yep, it feels real and then it doesn't. Reading a book makes you feel like the characters are real since you get immersed in it. But after reading, when you think about it again, you realize how non fiction the characters are.

have read several books that get me feeling like the characters are real. I tend to get a little emotional when a main character dies. I know it sounds a little crazy, but it makes me feel like someone I know has just died.
