As my children are staring to develope their own tastes in reading it is interesting to see what are their "must read" series. My 8th grader plowed through the Warriors books, by Erin Hunter, year ago, but still always knows exactly when the next one is due out. My 5th grader discovered Harry Potter this year and is on Book 7 as we speak. For me Madeline l'Engle was the first Author that I remember going to the library and working through her entire section; however, Anne McCaffrey was the first Author that I ever found myself dying to buy another book from.

I am curious what others just had to read or buy.

Arthur Conan-Doyle. I read all Sherlock Holmes stories by the age of 15.

Gertrude Warren Chandler and Stan Berenstain, Jan Berenstain. When I was in first grade, I remember frequent trips to the school library and getting all the Bernstain Bears books I read, and then graduating to the Boxcar Children books in second grade.

Sherrilyn Kenyon was the first author I had to read all by. I randomly started reading one and had to read the rest. Especially her Dark-Hunter Series.

Molly McAdams was the first author that I felt I had to read everything she had ever written. In fact, I was so addicted that I finished her novels in under two weeks, despite a busy schedule. Now, I'm not normally into fiction or love stories but she just has a certain captivating way with words that portray an amazing storyline and leave you smiling and craving more.

The Boxcar Children were by far my siblings and my favorite books growing up! I have a meet so my kids will be able to read them one day.

Stephen King. He's the only author I have to read everything by. I haven't read anyone else who writes consistently well enough to hold my attention. Not that I like gore all that much but he is reliably suspenseful, and really good at telling a story.

Barbara Park's Junie B Jones books. I was probably in the first grade when I read her first book and I was hooked. I made so many visits to the library that the librarian had the next book in the series waiting for me when I got done with the one I was on.

I know it's cliche, but Stephen King.

David Mitchell. I have loved all of his books.

Robert Arthur Jr., Specifically the Three Investigators series. I got hooked back in 3rd grade

As a kid, R.L. Stine was my EVERYTHING. I still have every Goosebumps book he put out. I treasure it.

Harlan Coben! I read "Tell No One", and became obsessed. That was the first time I looked for new books to read simply by searching by the author.

When I was a kid, it was Beverly Cleary. What little girl didn't have all of those?

Nowadays, I love Liza Palmer. Not like a stalker, but I am always sure to pick up the latest book the minute it comes out. Plus, her blog is hilarious. She says off the wall things in her books and personal blog that you or I would be thinking ourselves.

I had to read everything by Sarah Dessen. It was my first taste of "teen" books, and the romance in them was something new to experience. So I just had to soak it all in despite having no romantic affiliations with anyone.
