John Green or Nicholas Sparks

Post by Raj Tarrobal »

Is it just me or Nicholas Sparks is better than John Green
So I was in grade school when I first read my Nicholas Sparks book and I can say that I can still read it now without cringing. In highschool I was really into John Green because of my girlfriend that time but when I re-read it years after I'm just really cringing about it.

I definitely think that it has a lot to do with age! In high school, I enjoyed John Green a lot more than I do now. Nicholas Sparks writes books that more relatable all age groups while Green is geared towards the younger population and those who enjoy teen lit.
But to be honest, it's been a little while since I have read a book by either of them, so I couldn't definitively say if one is better than the other. I'm going to have to go back and read one by both because I want to compare the two now.

It's definitely John Green. First of all i haven't read any books by Sparks and i have no right maybe to say how great Green is without reading Sparks books. But i have read all of Greens books and Looking for Alaska is my favourite. Boy o boy that book made me realise that the simpler the book the stronger it will hit you.

Most definitely Nicholas Sparks. I always need a tissue while reading his books yet no book has ever affected me the way his have. It's a bittersweet feeling

That is a tough question there! I really love John Green but I think Nicholas Sparks is the undisputed winner. I agree with @liz im here :tiphat: coz Sparks' works are widely accepted amongst all age groups and it always brings a tinge of nostalgia to you and is very relatable in one way or another other even if you haven't gone through the same situations in life. I'm a person who gets very empathetic to the characters in books and films but definitely, Sparks made me cry the most, both tears of sorrow and joy.

Nicholas Sparks without a doubt is better. His books are timeless as opposed to John Green's books which are not bad, just like you said, more of a younger read. I read his books in high school as well.

It’s pretty embarrassing, but I never read a book by Nicholas Sparks. One of the things I should catch up on. Therefore, I’d say John Green. Right now he’s one of my favorite authors and I really enjoyed reading "Looking for Alaska". However, I'll reconsider the answer as soon as I've read a book from Nicholas Sparks.

I think John Green. I loved The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks but then I read Message in a bottle and did not feel that attached. I think John Green has so many new ideas.

Nicholas Sparks.
Imagine if we had no secrets, no respite from the truth. What if everything was laid bare the moment, we introduced ourselves?
