Advice on Good Authors
Advice on Good Authors
We're doing a project where we compare the style b/w books of a certain author. We get to choose the author and, not wanting to be stuck with a boring author for 500 pages, I decided to get some help from people who read more than me (that'd be you guys).
The author has to be an award-winning author of some kind. That is, they must have some sort of recognition for their books. My teacher wants to make sure the author is sufficiently challenging and sophisticated.
Some of my interests include:
Endurance sports and endurance feats (one author I'm looking at is Krakauer)
Game of Thrones
Suits (TV Show)
Harry Potter
Fantasy would be cool, if you can find a notable author who writes fantasy. I like books that have great, non cliche lessons at the end or books that make a point and then make you think about the point. I also like books with lots of suspense.
Hope you can recommend some good authors. Also, I need two books from that author that total ~500 pages.
Thanks,
Zach

This is a terribly limiting parameter.
I would recommend you read one of Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's Guide books and his Dirk Gently Holistic Detective novel. Sufficiently different in style that I Ioved the Hitchhiker books and did not care for Dirk Gently.
