Lee Smith, great Appalachian storyteller

I have been entranced with Lee Smith, beginning with "Oral History" and all of her works, which tell stories of Appalachian life as it is through the eyes of those who live there. I am taken in by her intricately woven tales that bring multi-dimensional life and substance to her characters. I swear I know that person, even if they have a different name in real life! Anyone else a fan? If not, try "Oral History" and tell me what you think.

Is this a series or a single book? I would really like to check this out, I live in the area and the history intrigues me. In probably the same line as the books you are talking about, the non-fiction Foxfire series is pretty amazing too for a history and details about Appalachia.

What a wonderful suggestion. I grew up near Appalachia and I look forward to looking into this!
