What's Your Favorite LGBTQ+ Author?

Post by Sohana Hasan »

Since it’s Pride Month, I’ve been reading a few books from LGBTQ+ authors and I think I’ve found a favorite: Anna-Marie McLemore. I’ve started reading When the Moon Was Ours and am officially in love!

Do any of you have a favorite LGBTQ+ author? Why is that author your favorite?

I am a fan of Claire Kann because she's one of the few asexual authors I know of and, as an aro-ace person, her depiction of asexuality in Let's Talk About Love was really affirming. I also really love Gabby Rivera, although I've only read Juliet Takes a Breath. It's a great depiction of finding community and learning what it means to be an intersectional feminist. I'll have to check out When the Moon was Ours, though; it sounds really interesting!

Seanan McGuire. Hands down.

She's bi and demi, and neurodivergent.

Writes juvenile fiction, YA fiction, urban fantasy, horror, and sci fi.

(She also writes under a few other names: Mira Grant and A. Deborah Baker.)

I always swore I'd never have an all time favorite author, but then I read her writing.

What is grief, if not love persevering?

Grief is just love with no place to go.

You all just made my day today!!! I've been searching awhile now for LGBTQ+ novels and seems to land empty handed every time. Maybe I just do the search wrong, who knows. Thanks to all of you, I now have a list to search 🤗.
