Have you ever heard of Mircea Eliade?

Hello. Since I am Romanian, I would like to ask you about my favourite Romanian writer named Mircea Eliade who spent the last part of his life in the USA, as a lecturer at the universities of Chicago and Santa Barbara. He was hated by the communist regime that existed in my country back then (the 1960s). My favourite novel is "Maitreyi", based on his real love story in India.
Has any of you heard of him or his novels/ philosophical writings?

Hello! I am Romanian as well so yes, I have certainly heard of Mircea Eliade.
In fact, I am a literature student in Romania so I have studied some of his works. Since you mentioned 'Maitreyi' as being your favorite novel, I want to say that it is one of my favorite works as well but, apart from this particular novel most students in Romania know, I would like to recommend his book 'The sacred and the profane'. It is one of my favorite works and I think it's worth reading if you haven't read it already.
