Very sad and very unexpected news. He is my one of the favorite author. I was a fan Chrichton's Westworld and of course loved Jurassic Park & ER. Lately.

So sad to hear this. What a talented writer -- and so young, too.

His education at Harvard medical school lent to the realism in his work, but his creative genius absolutely set him apart. I imagine most writers want to leave the world with a bit of themselves, immortalized in an idea, a story or a poem. Michael Crichton’s legacy will delight readers and inspire writers for years to come.

I have just now seen this thread and the sad news. The most interesting characteristic I read about Michael Crichton was that he lived a simple life in 'normal' surroundings despite his success and consequent celebrity stature. I believe this, what is nowadays unusual behaviour, says a lot about a persons integrity and strength of character.

I enjoyed Michael Crichton's work a lot too. He was full of interesting ideas and a fab story teller.

I like his more science-fictional works. He'll be missed.

It's always so sad when an author we all know and love passes away, especially since Michael Crichton was relatively young, he probably would have written so many more books in his lifetime. Even my professor, who always railed on the guy for trying to deceive people with blends of science and science fiction, said he would miss him.
