Anyone guilty of not remembering authors?

Post by Zeal16 »

So I know a lot of people talk about their favorite authors but I tend to only remember authors once I am tired of reading their work. For example, Nora Roberts. She's a great writer but oh my gosh I refuse to pick up another one of her books. They all are starting to sound the same!

For the books I like, I try to remember the authors but I just can't unless I come across the author several times. I remember the plot first, the title second, and then the author way down the line! Anyone else like this?

I can remember some authors, but I am much better at remembering the title of a book I enjoyed rather than the author. It can get frustrating because in a library books, well, fiction books, are sorted by author.
As a librarian, I've had the following, slightly embarrassing, situation happen to me several times, all because I'm really bad at remembering names, especially author's names. - I tell kids that come into the library where I work, oh I have the perfect book for you, you'll love it, this and this happens in it, the story line is something like this, blah, blah, and the title is "Blank". Now, who is the author.... if I could just remember I'd be able to find the book for you. I guess I'd better look it up in the computer so we can find it.

I'm terrible at this as well! I can retell just about the entire book but once I'm asked who the author is my brain goes completely blank. ;) I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I almost don't try to remember the authors (I'M HORRIBLE I KNOW!) But if I like them then I just take the book with me.

I'm guilty too. I can usually remember titles though. I have the same problem with music, except with songs, I usually can't remember the title OR artist.

I'm so glad i'm not the only one! I'm a little better with titles but I mostly just go off of what the book was about!

I am okay at best with the authors and the titles as well. I know the info is in my head, I just struggle to get to it sometimes.

I have the opposite problem. I usually remember the author's name, but sometimes not the full title of the book.

Pretty much like me.
And I hate when I see the name in my head for a millisecond and forget it again.

I too have a hard time remembering authors. I also have a bad time at just remembering names in general though. I have had fibromyalgia for almost 9 years now and find it getting harder and harder to remember various things...

I am horrible about this, probably due to the fact that I am bad at remembering names in general. I'll remember the book's title and plot with no problems, but unless the author is famous I will totally forget his/her name.

Many times I have had to google the summary or characters of a book to find out both the title and the author. lol.
