Honestly I'm the same. I've read so many books by many authors, it's unusual for me to read the same author unless it's in a series. In the end I just don't remember who wrote what. If I really loved the book, then I'll remember the author, but otherwise... It's a forgotten piece of information.

Right now I can remember the names of most authors whose books I have read. Soon after I'll have read many books, it would not be easy to memorize all the names.

I'm very guilty of not remembering author names. I'm poor with remembering names in general.

Most authors I can remember only because most of what I read falls into a series. Titles are easier for me with standalone novels.

Me! There are countless times I've recommended a book to someone and forgotten the author. The conversation usually goes something like: "... you can't miss it, it's a really popular book" even when it's not the case :D

Yes! Or even worse, after reading a few books, I would pick up a new one, and by the middle of the book realize I have already read it. It happened to me with Emma by Jane Austen. It was a little bit disturbing.

It has to be an extremely memorable book or an author whose entire collection is being subject to my reading rampages. The popular authors will be stuck in my head like Dean Koontz, J.K. Rowling, Stephenie Meyers and the classical authors, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and so on. Otherwise? Whoosh, read a book, digest the basic gist and immediately fail at remembering the person who wrote it.

Yeah I am definitely more of a ‘remember a good book’ than I am ‘stick with the same author’ kind of person. When I go into a book store to find new stuff I just look for covers that catch my attention and then I read the back to see if it still peaks my interest. My library is definitely full of a lot of different authors.

Guilty! I read too many books of too many authors to remember them all. I tend to remember authors when I read more than one of their books and when I read one recently, otherwise their books must be memorable to remember an author years after reading just one book.

I have troubles with my memory most of the time. I do remember the names of certain authors and their books, but over time my memory misplaces them. Right now I can't remember the name of the author who wrote the Sword of Truth series.

I agree with you! I also forget authors' names when I read books. I need to read many of their books to remember them.

Oh me! All the time! I once was looking for a mystery book in B&N, but could not remember the author's name at all! (shame on me!) For whatever reason, I had her name confused with the name of the main character. :-/

Yes...it is pretty rare if I can recall an author off the top of my head. I'm trying to get better at it, and I think I am getting better at making a point to learn the author and remember names. Not that I could recall the last 10 authors of the last 10 books, but I could probably recall at least half. Thats not bad..right...???

I think I'm better at remembering the book title than the author. But sometimes I only remember the story line and so I have to Google the book before I recommend it to someone.

I only remember authors if I have read several of their books. If its a one-off or not part of a series I find it hard to remember specific authors.
