Wilkie Collin's book "The Woman in White" is one of my very favorite books! I have also read and enjoyed "Armadale", "Basil", and "The Moonstone". I think he had true genius! I particularly enjoy his villains and his plots! He was a friend of Charles Dickens who encouraged him to write. For those of you who may not know, he was one of the first British mystery writers along with Arthur Conan Doyle and Mary Elizabeth Braddon etc. I have not yet encountered another author of this time period who could write with such fast, intricate pace! You will not be bored by the dialogue or slowness unlike some other British classics.
Who else is a fan, and if so what are some of your favorites by him?

One of my favourite authors and one I believe is much underappreciated. The Woman in White is one of the scariest books I've ever read.

YEAH! I couldn't agree with you more that he is underappreciated! The villain in "The Woman in White" is very creepy.

I'm a fan. I've heard a lot of great things about both 'The Woman In White' and 'The Moonstone' and I can't wait to finish them.

I have been wanting to read The Woman in White and The Moonstone for a long time. Year 2015 I should be able to do that.

Just read woman in white, which is frankly superb. Started the moonstone, which is similarly written and totally gripping. Amazon has a download of his entire works for free. That's an awful lot of my reading year taken!

I'm now on the look out for these books! I seriously need an ereader or a bigger house!

Never thought I truly get on with my kindle, but it enabled me to declutter some of my stuff (throw away paperbacks, in the main, I charitied my beloved cornwell / Sharpe series and lots more) because I loved the kindle so much. I don't work for Amazon.

And then there's loads of freebies that have let me read a load of classics I may never have done... Jane Austen, wilkie Collins, etc because of the time since written laws in Blighty.

I really want one, most likely the kindle paper white. I'll never be done with real books but decluttering would be nice.

I tend to do about 75% of my reading on my kindle, but can't ever give up paper! It's also excellent for going on holiday, business travel etc. with!

No holidays, business or travel here....but still want one. Do you have a paper white?

Got an older one, the first model with a keyboard that's not backlit. Three or four years old, battery life is amazing, used all the time (probably an average of 3 days use per week over that three or four years) and it's still going strong.
