Amitav Ghosh

Post by thefirsttime23 »

I am a big fan of Amitav Ghosh, and have reread many of his books simply because I love the depth he indulges into while explaining the scene, that you almost feel like you belong. His books tug along the lines of history and portray stories of people who are greyer than black or white. Must reads: Circle of Reason, Glass Palace, Sea of Poppy (Trilogy).

Indeed, a superb writer. I've read The Hungry Tide, The Shadow Lines, Sea of Poppies & River of Smoke. I would probably rate Sea of Poppies as my favourite and The Shadow Lines as my least favourite. He certainly does go into descriptive depth and you really do get a feel for the place and period he is writing about.
