My least favorite authors have to be Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, and I know many will disagree but Hemingway. I find him to be pretentious.

I think the one author I've found that I really cannot stand is Faulkner. I had a teacher in 10th grade that loved him, but I read "Intruders in the Dust" and that turned me off completely. I've never been able to read anything else by him. I found the style it was written in completely annoying.

Yeah Im not big on him either now that you mention it.

I agree with you! Hemingway is a greatest author!! It's the classics!

What don't you like about Koontz and Rice? Just curious if there's something specific.

i agree that Heminguay is really good author. Especially i like a canary for one - his story

My favorite used to be stephen king, however, since his accident, I have fallen by the wayside at least for his last few books,

I have had many hours of entertainment over the years, however something changed after his accident,

I do know how it is to be injured in the was he was injured, and so I can understand how it has effected his writing.

However, I think he rushed through the rest of the tower series, and made some mistakes along the way, for some reason his books no longer appeal to me at least not the way that they used to.

Hemmingway was a good author, although quite sexist. He did love his kitties with those extra digits, though! (And since i had several of them myself - and loved them , too - I'll have to vote that he's ok in my book).

I feel guilty for admitting this because I KNOW he's a huge literary figure and I haven't read anything of his on my own, but being force-fed John Steinbeck novels and novellas in middle and high school has pretty much soured my opinion of him. The thought of picking up "The Pearl" or "Grapes of Wrath" or "The Red Pony" to read them from a more grown-up perspective is not a pleasant one...

I absolutely hate how they do that at schools, i know a lot of people who have been completely put off authors or books that had they been able to discover themselves and not made to sit and dissect they may have actually liked. We were made to do a shakespeare every year at school and when i was 13 we were given romeo and juliet which i was far too young to appreciate (even now its not my favourite) it completely put me off shakespeare and it wasn't until i was 17 and we did Hamlet that i started to appreciate his writing.

My least favorite is Danielle Steel. I think she just churns out too many books to put any creative thought into them.

I total agree with the Steel comment. I read Sisters and she was so horrible. It was a struggle to get though it. I never want to read another one of her books!
