Austin Kleon and creativity in today's world

Post by obsessedwithleaves »

Austin Kleon is an author from Austin, Texas and writes books on how to be a creative in today's world. He has quickly become a favorite of mine as I work and study in the creative field and find his suggestions helpful and inspiring. He not only writes for artists but for writers as well.

Steal Like An Artist is a small, easy to read book that serves as a guide for those trying to find inspiration to continue to create. The book includes Kleon's own illustrations, quotes from people like artist Pablo Picasso and rapper Kanye West as well as the late David Bowie. Kleon also includes his own struggles and life experiences while trying to find a way to stay creative. He encourages us not to "steal the style but the thinking behind the style", he insists we "Google everything" and asks us to 'remix' instead of 'rip-off' someone else's work. Overall Steal Like an Artist is a cute and efficient book to help refresh your ideas.

:tiphat:

Has anyone else read Steal Like An Artist or his other book Show Your Work? What do you think about these books and the author himself?
