Rainbow Six or the Splinter Cell novels are good. Rainbow Six is a slower paced story while the Splinter Cells move like an action movie.

My favorite Clancy book is Red Storm Rising. The plot deals with an actual, conventional 3rd world war between N.A.T.O. and the former Soviet Union which is threatening to go nuclear (and, as I recall, to a certain extent does). In my opinion it is far and away Clancy's best book. It is epic in scale and thoroughly researched to employ actual strategy and weaponry of the two opposing sides which was extant at the time the novel was written. I have studied this topic to some degree and I can attest (for what my opinion may be worth) to the accuracy of Clancy's descriptions and expected tactical and strategic probabilities.
In addition to being entertaining the book is a primer on "real-world" weapon systems and strategy both in the air and on the ground in Europe and at sea in the North Atlantic by the two opposing forces. The battle scenes are extraordinarily believable.
It is a long book but well worth the time.

I would recommend The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Without Remorse, The Cardinal of the Kremlin and The Sum of All Fears.
