Guess who wrote this!

Please take the trouble to reply to this post. The answers would intrigue me!

This came from another thread:
StephenKingman wrote:Men are better at writing thrillers and horror, as their logical and technical minds transfer better over print. Women are great at all that romance and touchy feely stuff...
Before looking at the poster's name, I knew that the above was written by a man. Sometimes you just know! But, choice of words apart, he's right. Mostly.

Only an exception woman could have written Patrick O'Brian's stories of life at sea. Only an exceptional man could write like Jane Austen.

With most novels, I think you could never just read it and be sure of the sex of the author.

Take a guess! Was this post written by a guy or a gal?

A dollar to a cent says you can't!

...

(Hang on a moment! All you'd have to do is make two bets, one cent each way, and then you'd be sure to win! Cancel that bet!)

Does that extra comment help you guess whether this post was written by a male or a female?

Definitely a guy .... only a guy would refer to women as gals!

But what really decide me was the suggestion of a bet ... only a guy would suggest a bet on those odds!

Well done, Fran! Or is it?

There are quite a few females on forums who take on male-ish avatars and usernames to avoid silliness.

Of course, only a clever girlie would adopt male speech-patterns too. But aren't all the members of this forum likely to be above average IQ?

Are you quite sure of your first guess?

Thanks Tigersprite!

It's good to have a vote each way.

Any more voters?

Intriguing guess. "I" might be a couple taking it in turns to post... Anyone else think the same?

Totally male! Only a man could knock a woman down an inch by saying "Men are better at writing thrillers and horror, as their logical and technical minds transfer better over print..." Uhhuh. Even jokingly, a girl would never say that about their own sex. Or admit it. Not that its true, but still.

As a man would say, "Are you having a blonde moment, dear?" I was quoting a male member, but you are supposed to be guessing my gender.

I rather guessed you were blonde, if your avatar is a pic of you!

But what is your guess, from the way I write, am I a Guy or a Doll?

I meant i was naturally blonde, since my picture already gave that away and i think your a total guy (points for calling girls dolls though.) :D

Hey i just spotted this thread now! Why didnt you just bump the original thread about male vs female writers instead if creating a whole new thread just to ask me a question? :?

Anyway, to answer your question, yes im a man and i have read many thrillers from both male and female authors and i personally find that men make the superior author in this genre, they weave the storyline with suspense very well without getting bogged down in emotional details or carrying on sub plots that never get resolved, like i found in authors like La Plante or Sebold. Not saying women are inferior authors, because they are not, im just saying that i think thrillers are written better by men.

LOL You've had a blonde moment, just like Laci's! The original question was to guess, just from the way I write, what is my gender? (Bear in mind that I might be trying to think like the "others", as a real author does when he/she tries to describe male/female characters, so will my real gender show through anyway?)
