Who is the author I'm looking for?

Please help. I read a book about a blind woman who could get next to a recently dead person and see what they saw right before they died. I cannot remember the author. It was a good book and I'd like to read more like it. I'm hoping it was a series. In this book she had to go up in a helicopter and rapel off a cliff to get to the body. Can anybody help?

The story is told in multiple perspectives, which can be disconcerting, but I felt it came together well. I enjoyed Shuman's debut novel as well as his imaginative storyline.
