I was looking for one of my books called Caravenserai and I am sure it was by James A Mitchener, but I could be wrong. It was about a young junior USA embassy member of staff who had to go looking for a young woman who appeared to have gone walkabout there. The author based the novel on his own experiences as such a person, there is quite a long afterword about it. I like it for the glimpse of life there. It was set in the late 1920's, early 1030's. Over the years my children now adults have taken my books because they were good ones and I suspect it has been discarded. I have searched on the internet for it with no luck so I thought I would try my luck here.
