completely agree!! The book is MUCH better than the movie!!BookWorm15 wrote:Okay well, the film 'My sister's keeper' is absolutely different to what happens in the book. The ending in the book is SO much better, I totally recommend it! And on the whole the book is well written.Fran wrote:Haven't read anything of hers but I did see My sister's keeper & thought it wasn't bad .. liked the ending

She's the kind of author whose books I read when I have nothing else to read. To me she's a jack of all trades but master of none. She can write crime, romance, mystery etc. but she doesn't seem to have a particular writing style. Most good authors have a 'style' that makes them unique. Picoult is like a writing powerhouse. She releases a new book every few months, which makes me question her motives behind writing (dollar signs me thinks).
I agree with you. She is a jack of all trades in that her writing is great for mainstream readers but not necessarily anything special. To me, she is one of the authors whose books are likely to be made into a movie. She really reminds me of Nicolas Sparks in a lot of her themes.

I haven't read Second Chance but maybe I might.

laureng wrote:Generally, I like her books though a lot of the time I feel like I'm reading the same kind of story each time. She is really great at keeping you entertained in the story. Her writing style is also really simple, so its not fantastic writing, though its good enough for people to keep reading. She also does an incredible amount of research for her books which is always nice. The first one I read from her was The Pact, which was really good. I read another one of her books awhile back back, but I'm blanking on the title at the moment. My Sister's Keeper is one of her better ones.
I completely agree with you. I have fallen in love with her ever since she made me cry during My sister's keeper, but as I continue on through her books, it seems to be the same story and the same ending. Personally, I love the writing style. I love how each character gets their "own say" through sections told in their point of view. By far, My Sister's Keeper and Handle with Care are my favorite!

That said, I do enjoy them while I'm reading them, she has a way of ending each chapter with a cliffhanger. But once I close the book when I finish I feel a bit dissatisfied.
