Who's Your Favorite Author?

My favorite author, while a relative newcomer to the Fantasy genre, is Christopher Buhlman, who wrote the Black Tongue Thief. I fell in love with his first book, Those Across the River, and I haven't been disappointed since! It took me a minute to overcome my desire for him to continue to write literary horror, but the The Black Tongue Thief won me over.

I feel as though it is hard for me to pick a favorite author, as I just kind of jump around and read what is recommended to me. I don't necessarily follow and read everything by certain authors. With that being said, I almost always love anything by Sarah J. Maas, Odette Stone, or Colleen Hoover. As you can see, I am mostly a romance reader, though I dabble in other genres.

My favourite has always been Thomas Hardy. I adore his female characters, particularly Tess from Tess of the d'Urbervilles. Unlike other female characters portrayed in books from this era, I felt as though Hardy's leading ladies always put up a fight against the patriarchy of the time. Admittedly, their success was often limited, but I felt they fought hard against the double standards and inequalities that governed their lives.

I'd really recommend Irish writer William Trevor, novelist and short story writer. He is probably best known for his short fiction, which has been compared to Chekhov and Alice Munro.
