This is the first book I have read since joining the onlinebookclub today.

I enjoyed glimpses into the culture and business of Myanmar. The contrast between "foreigners", locals, returning locals, rich and poor were all briefly touched upon and could have been extended upon to capitalize on the rich characters and setting.

It was written more like a journal lapsing a year, or travel log at times, than a novel. Because of this I was able to read the book quickly. In fact this book did not require me to think in any way. It was however a nice diversion on a windy day giving insight into Myanmar that I didn't know before.

4 out of 5 stars.

I thought that Puk Time was a good book and I enjoyed it very much. The only thing I didn't like about it was that the book was written more like a journal than a novel and I am more of a novel person myself.

The “People I met at the Puk” is a series of short stories from a young Australian Entrepreneur, Jonathan Nichols (Mr. John). Brief and to the point, the stories depict the trials and tribulations faced in Myanmar Post sanctions in 2012.

The names of character’s mentioned in the stories are fictional to protect the reputations of the individuals.

Puk Time is an excellent read and I find that the words in the book give a great insight to what actually goes on and how business works in the market. The author gives an essential understanding of the business environment and the book was easy to read.

The book is quite involving and the business environment is described quite well in the book. Also, the description of Myanmar and its cultural environment was quite enjoyable.

I didn't like the journal-ness of the book, which has been the reason for me not liking other books as well, but it was quick and easy to read, which I liked
