I love to read historical romance novels. Historical romance novels are actually one of my favorite genre to read .

It depends on the day! One of them satisfies more of an emotional need, and the other satisfies a more physical need. I like both, just like I like other genres as well.

I really love to read both. However, I find myself leaning more towards erotica. I feel it keeps things spicy and steamy in the novel. Most times, I find romance novels to be too cliche, cringy or just so unrealistic.

While I do enjoy both as separate genres, I prefer a book that includes a bit of both. I think the one feeds and helps the other in terms of enjoy-ability.

I used to love cutesy romance but once I started with my smutty dark romance books I don't think there's a going back. So erotica ALWAYS.

The answer to this really depends on my mood, as many have already mentioned earlier. Some days, all I want is a clean romance with a storyline that tugs at the heartstrings. The emotional journey is more than enough on those occasions. Yet, there are days when you just want to take it up a notch, you know?

It's never too late to talk about romance, so let me add my two cents to this post - I mostly read queer romance, and the thicker plot keeping me late til night the better. It can be related to personal drama, or some mystery following the characters.

Personally, steamy scenes are enjoyable if they make sense and are not thrust in to fulfil some ' keep it horny' quota, and are meaningful to the portrayal of the relationship. I prefer reading romances though because it's too easy to stumble upon kinks and power dynamics I'm not interested in while reading erotica. You can't know what will hit you.

In this case, we are opposites, as I enjoy both themes. But my exact ideal type is somewhere in the middle: a novel with an adorable romance with some seasoning of erotica!!

I have to say that I do personally prefer Erotica! Well written erotica just writes the intimacy between two(or more) people so beautifully. It shows a part of romance and intimacy that can’t be seen in any other fiction unless it is also an erotica. It’s very personal and private and there is something so thrilling about that. It can also be very sweet and soft as well, it just depends on what kind of erotica you are reading. You could also get these in a regular romance novel, but I guess I just really enjoy my spice and dirt :wink2:

I definitely prefer romance rather than erotica because I think that it is more realistic that way but that is just my personal preference.

I prefer a good, fluffy, wholesome romance.
Not that an erotica is bad, it just depends on the style of writing and the plot.
If it doesn't have and enjoyable plot then I'm most definitely not reading it

I honestly think that too much scenes can ruin a book.It just takes awaay from the cuteness and the little moments that make if worth reading. We should have to wait until the characters get together. :D
